The number of protestors country-wide has reached (and likely surpassed) 1 million as of this posting. The people are protesting the massive amount of money the current government is pouring into international events like the World Cup, while offering their citizens little to no care in terms of housing, food, or other social programs. Many citizens of Rio have been forcibly evicted from their homes to make way for stadium construction, and they were offered no money, alternate housing, or warning.
