Whoa

I resigned from my job today.

After five years.

Five.

Scary.

Census 2010 Reveals Detroit Is Totally F'd → freep.com

Detroit lost 25% of its population in the last decade. It’s the largest % change in any American city IN HISTORY with a population of over 100,000. Actually the only larger mass exodus in this country was when 29% of the population fled New Orleans after Katrina.

237,500 people left Detroit. 140,000 people left New Orleans.

This is the lowest the population has been since 1910.

Classroom sizes are nearing 60 students each.

Michigan has the highest rate of college enrollment & the lowest prisoner population in 20 years.

Now someone explain to me why our new governor Rick Snyder wants to cut higher education funding by 15% statewide, cut the funding to public schools in my district by 23% & increase corrections expenditures statewide, while attempting to privatize our correctional system? Michigan is already one of 4 states that spends more on corrections than education.

This links to a PDF of the proposed state budget if you don’t believe me. I hardly believe it myself.

So 20 years from now when your kids are like “what’s a Detroit?” you can tell them that a hundred years ago it was a beautiful city in a mystical place that used to be called “Michigan” before the government pulled the plug on it.

GoDaddy.com

Is one of the only websites I use that still gives me pop-ups. That is so obnoxious. Do you even remember the last time you said “pop-up” without putting the word “blocker” after it?

15 Reasons Mister Rogers Was the Best Neighbor Ever

1. Even Koko the Gorilla Loved Him

Most people have heard of Koko, the Stanford-educated gorilla who could speak about 1000 words in American Sign…

Tears! I love reading about Mr. Rogers. Everything I find is fascinating & pretty much makes me cry. I wish there were more Mr. Rogers.

And just in case you think the tragedy in Japan would preclude conservative talk show hosts from saying stupid shit politicizing the whole thing, you'd be wrong. → mediaite.com

As a spokesman for the Corporatist movement, would you expect any less? He is shilling for the Nucular Industry. Profits before People!

Old Man Kudlow was quoted yesterday or the day before saying, “the human toll here looks to be much worse than the economic toll and we can be grateful for that” and although he claims to have “flubbed the line” it still makes you wonder…
